Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate Chip Cookies

We all have our own vision of what makes the perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie. I like a crisp outside and a soft, chewy middle. This is my absolute favorite recipe.

Ingredients

2 sticks salted butter
2 1/4 cups bread flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/4 cups light brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 egg yolk
2 Tablespoons milk
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
12 oz bag milk chocolate chips

Instructions

Mix flour, salt, and baking soda in a large bowl. I use a whisk to lightly combine. Set aside.

Soften butter in a glass bowl in the microwave for approximately 30 seconds. Add brown sugar and sugar. Mix with a hand mixer until light and fluffy. Add egg and egg yolk, continuing to mix with hand mixer. Add milk and vanilla.

Pour the butter/sugar mixture over the dry ingredients. Mix with hand mixer. Then, stir gently with a spatula to make sure everything is combined.

Stir in chocolate chips.

Place cookie dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350. Scoop cookie dough onto a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 7-8 minutes, depending on your oven. You want them starting to brown, but still soft.

Transfer to wire rack to cool.

Ideas

I like to use an ice cream scoop to make giant cookies. Bake for 10-12 minutes depending on your oven.
This dough freezes beautifully. Scoop cookie dough into balls and place in a ziploc freezer bag. You can bake them straight from the freezer, which is perfect when you just want a cookie or dough without having to make an entire batch.
